Each year in the season of Lent (a season of preparation for Easter) we have a study class or group. This year the focus will be on the Lord's Prayer, also known as the "Our Father..."
The class will run for six sessions, at the Rectory, from 8.00pm to 9.30pm each time, beginning Wednesday, 21 February. We will use a book, the cost of which is €20. The book comes from a company called Kerygma, which publishes excellent Bible study materials.
The Lord's Prayer is among the greatest treasures of faith. We pray it in every worship service. It is what Jesus gave us when his followers asked him to teach them how to pray. Come explore the key phrases of this prayer, and see what it says to us about God and living.
The six sessions are on the following topics:
- Keeping Our Distance: How close can we come to a holy God?
- Crossing to the Future: What is the Kingdom and what is the Kingdom yet to come?
- Willing Obedience: How can we glorify God in our daily lives?
- Feeding Ourselves: What place does self-sufficiency have in Christian life?
- Writing It Off: What does the reality of our forgiveness say to our treatment of others?
- Crying for Help: How does a Christian respond to the enormity of evil in the world?
