Special Service in Kilmallock (and other scheduling changes)

On Sunday, 29th November, Bishop Kenneth Kearon will be visiting our church in Kilmallock for a special service. In the past months, the Vestry has had a number of the stained glass windows repaired. The church also has bought a new book of lectionary readings for the lectern and a set of the new hymnals, “Thanks and Praise.” We have asked Bishop Kearon to come and bless all these things.

The service will be at 11.00am. This is a change from the time originally published.

The 29th November is the fifth Sunday of the month. Even though I have said in the past that I prefer having joint fifth Sunday services in the evening, that does not work this month for a variety of reasons (and it’s nicer to bless stained glass windows when we can see the light coming through them!). So all the other parishes will be closed that Sunday, to allow everyone the opportunity to celebrate with Kilmallock and to meet and be with our Bishop.

Other scheduling changes

And while we’re on the subject of schedules, the regular Sunday schedule in December will change again this year, because of our special carol services and a Christmas family service in Kilpeacon. Stay tuned on the Upcoming Events page for details. This is the plan:

  • 6 Dec (1st Sun) — Holy Communion (HC) in Kilmallock & Adare; Morning Prayer (MP) in Croom & Kilpeacon
  • 13 Dec (2nd Sun) — HC in Croom, Kilpeacon, & Adare; MP in Kilmallock. Kilpeacon will have a special family service with the Sunday School presenting their Christmas play.
  • 20 Dec — MP in Croom & Kilpeacon. No morning service in Kilmallock or Adare.
Carol service in Kilmallock, with Christmas dinner following in Deebert House Hotel (time TBA).
Evening carol service in Adare, 7.00pm.
  • 27 Dec — Carol Service in Kilpeacon at 10.30am; MP in Kilmallock. Croom & Adare closed.

All these will be confirmed, as well as the times of Christmas services.
