Heritage Celebration

St. Nicholas Church in Adare will hold a special evening in celebration of the Heritage Week happening throughout Ireland from 21–28 August, through the Heritage Council.

The evening will have several events, beginning at 7.00pm. David Humphreys, Director of ACP Architectural Conservation Professionals, will speak on the history of the cloisters and the stained glass windows of St. Nicholas, and their significance for Irish heritage in general.

The talk and accompanying tour will be followed by a service of Compline, a worship service held at the close of the day.

The cloisters and the stained glass windows of St. Nicholas are the targets for works being undertaken this summer and autumn: to reseal the roof over the cloisters, in order to prevent water leaking and damage; and to conduct a survey of the stained glass windows to determine what work each needs for its preservation. This work is being funded in part through grants from the Heritage Council.

All are welcome and invited to attend. The event is free of charge.

The photo of the cloisters is by John Holmes of the Limerick Camera Club.
